Hilla Keren, LCSW-C

In this site you will find information about Decluttering Services, Psychotherapy, and Workshops.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social worker (LCSW-C) with over 15 years of experience in individual, couples, group, and family therapy.
After 15 years of practicing ‘talk therapy’ I found that my healing ability needed to be expressed outside of the ‘therapy room’. I began to find healing in cooking, singing, creating art, sharing meals, and dancing. Healing becomes a way of life; it is simple, hands-on, and within your reach. My goal is to help my clients find what heals in their own life and put it to work.
My gift is in the delivery.
The ability to provide a strong holding of the healing space relies heavily on the therapist’s level of self awareness. Because of my commitment to and respect for my clients, I continuously increase my own level of awareness by ongoing meditation, practice mindfulness, supervision, and ongoing training and teaching.
I have the experience and skills to provide a solid, well structured treatment, and safe space in which healing can take place. I bring together discipline and compassion to assist in very difficult psychological and emotional challenges. I apply a non-judgmental no-nonsense approach, a love for beauty, and a natural sense of function and beauty to my work with clients.
My Background
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland and a Master’s of Social Work from UM’s School of Social Work. I am a member of the National Association of Social Workers and a former member of the American Academy of Psychotherapists. My articles on psychotherapeutic practice have appeared in Voices, the Journal of the American Academy of Psychotherapists.
I grew up in a Jewish religious Kibbutz in Israel near the Jordan River, and joined the Living Room Dialogue, a non-violent approach to the conflict between Palestinians and Israelis, 2005. I am a former board member of Love Thy Neighbor, a non-profit organization with a commitment to the principles of nonviolence, and a member in Living Room Dialogue, national dialogue to rise above war.
