Group therapy includes one or two therapists working with a group of four to eight individuals for 75 minutes weekly.
The experience of the group process has the potential to increase insight and provide the
opportunity to practice new behaviors. The group provides a ‘family- like’ interaction
between group members; this allows members of the group to practice their own family
dynamics in a safe environment that is as close to reality as possible. In a group process
members interact with one another on an equal basis unlike the nature of the individual
therapy where the therapist is the ‘expert’ and the client is the ‘student.’
